Since we got our Creative Build Minecraft Server (thanks to C-oPs Game Hosts), we had some very interesting buildings made, and we thought it would be nice to showcase some of them. So here is our first, The Fortress as built by Thingie aka Mafn.

Another in our series of interviews where we delve into the minds of our staff and bring back the answers to give you, our listeners, a better idea of what makes the station tick.
Who are you and what is your title?
Darkelink, presenter. Take a business card…
What do you do at the station?
Wait, I am expected to do stuff?
I present Initial Install weekly where I talk about PC gaming news and releases from the past week. I also made a tool to help other presenters tag and upload podcasts, so I guess I’m a developer now?
Where did your nick come from?
Back in ye olde days, I had to choose a username for the first site I sign up to. At that time, I was playing through Ocarina of Time and in my infinite child wisdom thought that ‘dark link’ was cool. Fortunately that name was taken, unfortunately all I did to change it was to add an e instead of the space to get the name we all know today. I still think it is a stupid name, but I like constancy so I won’t change it.
Chocolate or Vanilla?
Why not both?
What do you hope for the future of the station?
First off I would like to see us get by while not relying on donations. After that I suppose world domination is not a bad aim. I have already got a plan ready:
Get bus, get blimp, get space station. Fire lasers at enemies from space.
Name one thing you would like to add or change about the station, if you had all the money and time?
More awesome people, also see plan above.
How do you have your potatoes?
Boiled, Mashed, Roast, New, Chips, Crisps, Waffles/ Shaped, Raw, Any way is good
If you could pie anyone in the world without consequence who would it be and why?
According to urbandictionary:
Pie: A word that can be used to answer any question known to man, and can be an excuse if you do not know the answer to the question.
So… pie.
What’s in your fridge right now?
Is that a euphemism?
Sum up what G3 Radio means to you in 5 words or less.

Our design monkeys have been busy slaving away at their computers for the past week to bring a host of shiny new designs to our store. Isn’t that exciting? Here’s a quick taste of what’s on offer, so check out the store and remember every purchase helps the station.

Another in our series of interviews where we delve into the minds of our staff and bring back the answers to give you, our listeners, a better idea of what makes the station tick.
Who are you and what is your title?
Arran ‘Wriga’ Wright – DJ.
What do you do at the station?
I am a DJ for the site and am on air twice a week for two hours at a time either talking about Japanese music/ anime or talking about films.
Where did your nick come from?
My nick came from my school as it’s a combination of my first initial ‘A’ and part of my surname ‘Wrig’. I kind of took to it, so kept it as my default name for most of my ID’s in the gaming community.
Chocolate or Vanilla?
Melon.
What do you hope for the future of the station?
I hope for it’s listener base to expand and for it to remain around long after I have left.
Name one thing you would like to add or change about the station, if you had all the money and time?
I would expand it’s reach beyond just radio, maybe take it to youtube and try and expand the listenership of the radio that way.
If you could pie anyone in the world without consequence who would it be and why?
I would pie the flying spaghetti monster, because it would be proof of his existence…
If you suddenly found out that your mother was a common tree finch, what would you do?
A barrel roll.

A Frozen Leg of Lamb

Just a quick note to let everyone know that MasterQueef, Wriga, Darkelink and Vince_Kupo will be all be taking a break from their shows to focus on exams and other real-world shiz. They should be back by the start of July at the latest. We of course wish them well in their exams, and in the mean time, we’ll try and get some extra shows from the other presenters.
Firstly, a quick word on the new update: As you may known there has been a patch released for MineCraft, 1.5.2, that breaks connecting to servers of older versions. Unfortunately there isn’t yet a CrafBukkit release for this patch (CraftBukkit being the mod API we use to keep building’s safe ect), so for the time being we’ll be keeping the main server as 1.5.1, while the other two (see below) are both updated to 1.5.2. However, if you have updated don’t worry! Mojang have released a beta version of the new MineCraft launcher (which can be found here). This allows you to up- and down- grade your client to your hearts’ content and allow you to play on all of our servers.
Secondly, it’s taken us a wee while, but finally we have a couple of new servers for you to try out!
Weekly Steam releases and PC gaming news for week ending 26th April 2013.
Due to some unexpected failures, this week started a bit late. As such there is half an hour less, so expect only a brief mention of the weeks releases. However after the fires were put out, the front was taped back on and the panic smothered; the news continues on uninterrupted.
This is a casual game by Mobage, available for free through the Google Play Market. It’s an eight-bit style game where the goal is to travel through the various stages of the map and use your set of nine fighters to battle evil robotic invaders, and save the spiritual land of Texel. The game describes it’s self as an RPG but I have found it to be more like a trading card game.
Gameplay is very simple: you chose an area of the map, and then a stage. You ‘travel’ through the stage and fight the bad guys, collecting experience, tex coins and gems along the way. In each battle, you have the choice of selecting three of your nine fighters at a time by swiping across the grid in horizontal, vertical or diagonal lines. You only ever fight three bad guys at a time, with the exception of the Boss fights. These occur after every third stage, and predictably enough you face down a lone super-tough bad guy. Each boss battle takes away a Nux Block, which you can get as prizes to use if you don’t have enough, but will regenerate on their own after a while. The same goes for energy used in traversing the stages; while it does regenerate after a while, you can use eight-bitter plants to give you more energy to continue. These are also given as prizes for completing stages.
With regard to the trading card style of the game, as you fight your way across the map, you gather gems called Pixite and Voxite (and occasionally Smithite). These gems can be used to generate more fighters, with Pixite creating lower-level fighters than Voxite. Smithite is used to generate a single type of fighter, usually based on an event that is happening in game.
With your newly built fighters, you can then fuse them together to create more powerful fighters. Fusing together fighters of the same type is called Self Fusing, and doing this six times will result in the fighters evolving into a more powerful version of it.
Power-ups only come in the form of fusing fighters together, however you still have access to items that heal (duct tape), resurrect (G.L.U.), as well as the Eight-Bitter Plant and Nux Blocks. Mentioned above.
White it is a simple game at heart, this leads to it being very easy to pick up and very hard to put down again. My only complaint is it is very battery and network intensive. You need to have full 3G signal for it to not have connection issues.
Dru points
The above books are both set in Barcelona, around the end of the Second World War, and are part of the same series. However, unlike with many other book series, they are not dependant on each other and, but the author’s own admission, can be readout of sequence.
The Shadow of the Wind, ostensibly the first in the series, focuses around Daniel Sempere and the book he acquires at the Cemetery of Forgotten Books at a young age. It follows his life and his strange desire to find more about the author who’s book he now owns, which turns into a tragic tale of desperate men and women doing the best they can, in a world ravaged by war.
The Prisoner of Heaven, the third book in the series, starts out a week or so before Daniel Sempere’s best friend, Fermín Romero de Torres, is to get married and delves into a time, long before Daniel was born, of de Torres’s life during the war, of his time in prison and of the men he met there, specifically David Martín, an author.
Both novels have a Gothic/ noire feeling to them, and I found both books to be suffused with sadness. The writing in each is beautiful and descriptive, giving you just enough flavour of the time and place to conjure vivid images without drenching you in excessive detail and pulling you out of the story. As I mentioned before, I found both stories to be sad and tragic, something I feel partly comes from the setting. The backdrop of war and the poverty that comes after add immeasurably to the flavour of the tales and the sadness.
I highly recommend both these books, and I am endeavouring to acquire the other 2 books in this series.
